MUSIC AND EDITING

Music is very important when editing. It helps to understand to mood of the film, gives the pace and helps to tell a story.

In movies music helps with the storyline. For example, when there is a car chase a building up fast music will be used to build up the tension. Music also helps with the transitions between the scenes.

Sometimes, to introduce the change of the scene and to quickly adapt the viewer what is going to happen next editors put music at the end of the previous scene.

Music helps in general for the better understanding of the film and the situation.

A lot of edit such as travel videos or adverts are based their pace on the music as it helps to look good.

For example, the very first edit we did in class was based on the music. IF the footage wouldn’t change to the beat of the music the edit wouldn’t be so interesting.
